This unit emphasizes on how we should work together as a group and make experiments.  It teaches people good work ethics for groups.  It also focuses on experimentation.  We did many experiments and were taught what a good experiment should include.  All experiments should include the scientific method.  In experiments you should be able to write a good hypothesis, writing a good set of procedures, creating a well designed experiment, collecting quantitative data, graphing the quantitative data, analyzing the data, and writing a good conclusion. All of these things and more we taught to us, and helped us learn all about experimentation.  This wiki shows how we have worked together as a table Candace, Karen, Alexis, and Trevor.

8th Grade Science Standards Covered:

Scientific progress is made by asking meaningful questions and conducting careful investigations. As a basis for understanding this concept and    addressing the content in the other three strands, students should develop their own questions and perform investigations. Students will:

  1. Plan and conduct a scientific investigation to test a hypothesis.
  2. Evaluate the accuracy and reproducibility of data.
  3. Distinguish between variable and controlled parameters in a test.
  4. Construct appropriate graphs from data and develop quantitative statements about the relationships between variables.
